Understand the Compensations Section

how to use the Compensations section, how to filter compensations, how to review a compensation, compensation actions

Written by Alejo

This guide gives you an overview of the Compensations section, from finding the right records to reviewing their calculation and available actions.

👋 Before you begin: the Compensations section includes compensations created by automated rules and compensations added manually by an admin. The actions available for a record depend on its source and current status.

Here's what will be covered in this article:

Find the Compensations You Need

Open Compensations from the left-hand navigation. The page lists compensations generated by rules as well as those added manually.

Use the period selector to view a month, quarter, year or custom date range. For rule-generated compensations, this follows the generation date defined by the rule configuration. For a manual compensation, it follows the period selected when the compensation was added.

You can narrow the list by status, open issues, profile, team tag, deal, invoice or compensation review. Deal and invoice filters let you search for records connected to a particular data source.

💡 Tip: combine the period and profile filters first when you are investigating one person's compensation. Add a deal or invoice filter when you need to trace the record back to its source.

Review a Compensation

Select a compensation value to open its overview. From there, you can inspect the record's details and the data source or deals associated with it.

Use the Available Actions

The menu on a compensation lets you open its details or report an issue. Depending on the record, you can also create adjustment, edit the details of a manual compensation, change its payment date, or delete it.

To add a compensation by hand, use Add manually. A separate guide covers the full manual-compensation form.

⚠️ Important: a compensation cannot be deleted after it has been validated or paid. Check the record's current status before planning to remove it.

You can now use the Compensations section to find a record, understand how it was calculated and choose an action that is available for its current state.
